The Sustainable Banking Coalition aims for an ambitious review of the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) to clarify sustainable fund definitions and simplify navigation for ESG-focused financial institutions. We want to eliminate ambiguities that enable greenwashing and erode sector credibility and consumer confidence. Clearly defined sustainable product categories, minimum disclosure requirements for fossil fuel-exposed products, and a harmonisation of the SFDR with related legislation is needed. The Coalition aims to shift the burden of proof toward institutions engaged in fossil-fuel activities, and reduce disproportionate compliance demands on small green financial institutions.
